[Community] summary of today's (4/4/2007) call

Thanks to the participants of this morning's call: Victor Grey, Eugene
Eric Kim, Dan Perry, Drummond Reed, Paul Trevithick, and Bill Washburn.

= LOGO =

We reviewed the logo situation.  Although several people expressed strong
preference for Meng Weng Wong's cyclops rendition, many people still have
not spoken.  We decided to continue to accept proposals until Wednesday,
April 18, then go into a two-week voting discussion period, followed by a
vote at the end of April.  We have two submissions so far: Meng's and Jim
Fournier's rendition of one of Paul's logos.  One of Phil Windley's
students may submit something as well, and Paul will probably resubmit
another of the ones he commissioned.

= INCORPORATION =

We will keep discussions about the Articles open until the end of this
week, then go into a two-week discussion period, followed by a vote on
Wednesday, April 18.

Before the Articles are ready, Dan noted we need two things:

  * We need to designate officers.  (See below.)

  * We need snail mail addresses of Stewards.

= STEWARD COUNCIL OFFICERS =

Since we had a limited number of Stewards on the call, we decided to
accept nominations through the end of this week (5pm PDT, Friday April
6).  There are three officer positions: Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer.

Paul kicked off the nominations by nominating Eugene for Chair.  Drummond
seconded it.

Drummond nominated Bill for Secretary.  Victor seconded it.

Eugene nominated Dan for Treasurer.  Bill seconded it.  Dan accepted the
nomination, with the stipulation that he would only hold the position for
about eight months, long enough for us to get off the ground.

If we get additional nominations by this Friday, we will hold an
election.  If we don't get additional nominations, we'll include these
nominees in the Articles, which we'll vote on in two weeks.

= NEXT CALL =

Wednesday, April 11, 2007, 9am PDT / 12pm EDT.  Our main topic of
discussion will be the bylaws.
